Dear President Aquino:

We are profoundly disturbed by the reported conduct of the Central Mindanao University (CMU), through President Maria Luisa R. Soliven, in prohibiting the farmers-members of Buffalo-Tamaraw-Limus (BTL) to continue tilling their farm-lots inside the CMU premises at Dologon, Maramag, Bukidnon.

A POSITION PAPER OF THE COALITION OF AGRICULTURAL
WORKERS INTERNATIONAL

Food is essential to life and a basic human right. It should not be treated like any other commodity. Almost 90% of agricultural products are consumed domestically and only 10% are traded internationally, yet the World Trade Organization (WTO) and neo-liberal policies interfere and enforce rules on the 90% consumed domestically.
